Makayla Mannami is a Los Angeles-based interior designer and musician.
With a global background—growing up in Japan, living in ten cities across four countries, and traveling extensively from a young age—Makayla has developed a design sensibility shaped by diverse cultural influences.
Over the past 28 years, she has designed and refined more than 20 residences she personally lived in, continuously shaping her own distinctive design style.
Before establishing her design practice, Makayla built a professional career as a music composer, credited in internationally recognized projects under the name Maki Mannami. Working from home studios for over two decades gave her a deep understanding of how environments influence creativity, productivity, and well-being.
What began as a hobby—creating 3D renderings of dream interiors—soon caught the attention of professionals in the restaurant industry, leading her to be hired as a design consultant for several Los Angeles restaurants. Soon after, a Los Angeles property she had designed was put up for sale, sold quickly, and received overwhelmingly positive feedback. As a result, inquiries for her custom-designed furniture and artwork began pouring in. That experience marked the turning point where Makayla decided to officially pursue interior design alongside her music career.
In 2024, she launched Makayla Interior, a YouTube channel dedicated to sharing her design insights and vision, gaining recognition from a growing global audience of design-conscious viewers.
